Economic and Financial Comittee

Established in 1945 under the Charter of the United Nations, the General Assembly occupies a central position as the chief deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN. There are six main committees.

The Second Committee at the MUNelly conference is the Economic and Financial Committee. ECOFIN (as it is commonly referred to) deal with issues relating to economic growth and development such as macroeconomic policy questions (including international trade, international financial system, external debt sustainability and commodities), financing for development, sustainable development, human settlements, poverty eradication, globalization and interdependence, operational activities for development, and information and communication technologies for development.
